The first US state to switch to electric trucks starting in 2024

The first US state to switch to electric trucks starting in 2024

California has adopted a historic rule requiring all truck manufacturers to sell more electric trucks starting in 2024.

This rule is taking place against the backdrop of efforts to reverse the effects of climate change in America. Several states are working to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality. Seven other states and the District of Columbia are expected to have similar legislation in place. This was written in an article by the publication Inhabitat .

The decision to require California car manufacturers to sell more electric vehicles was made on June 25. The California Air Resources Board (ARB) unanimously endorsed the measure. According to the California ARB, the state has set several goals to achieve clean air. Key goals include selling only electric trucks in the state by 2045.

States planning new anti-climate measures could learn from California. California ARB sets five key goals for clean air. Key goals include achieving a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, a 50% reduction in oil use by 2030, and an 80% reduction in GHG emissions by 2050.

Such landmark decisions did not go unchecked. While most car manufacturers are interested in the production of electric vans and trucks, some industry representatives are against it. Despite this, many companies are working on electric vehicle technology in anticipation of a zero-emission future.

Jason Gray of Daimler Trucks North America explained that the company has already built 38 medium and heavy electric trucks that work even better than gas trucks. These electric cars produce less noise and do not emit gas. Daimler Trucks has already provided drivers with several test trucks. It turns out that even drivers prefer electric trucks.

“They have nothing to say about them, except that they are quiet, as you know, they don’t come home with the smell of a diesel engine,” said Bill Blim, senior vice president Fleet Services at NFI Industries Logistics Company.

If other countries adopt this practice, talking about clean air could improve in the next few years. In this situation, California’s work is only part of a nationwide zero-emission vehicle revolution. : ///
