Iran held “large-scale” military exercises near the Strait of Hormuz
On Tuesday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps conducted “large-scale” military exercises near the Strait of Hormuz, according to its Sepah News website.
According to Sepah News, in the exercise naval and air forces were involved, and the Nour Iran satellite, launched earlier this year, became part of it. According to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, the exercise culminated in an “operation against a fictitious” American aircraft carrier.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical point through which about a third of the world's oil passes.
Tehran constantly attempts to pave new paths for oil export, primarily bypassing the key route – the Strait of Hormuz, the instability in which may affect the stability of oil supplies from the region as a whole.
Back in Tehran in 2018, it was not ruled out that Iran would close the other countries in the event that the Islamic Republic is unable to export oil due to US sanctions.
Later, the Iranian military announced no such plans. : ///
